A saline implant has a silicone rubber shell filled with sterile saltwater. A silicone implant has the same shell filled with a silicone gel that is FDA approved. Many consider silicone implants to feel softer and more like a natural breast.
Your surgery will be performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Dawli will prescribe you pain medication after surgery which relieve most discomfort you may have.
You need to be off of work for one week. After that time, you can start increasing your level of activity depending on your healing. Usually it takes 3 to 6 weeks to get back to your regular activities. Again, it all depends on your level of healing and the extent of your surgery.
A blood transfusion after breast surgery is extremely rare.
Before surgery, you will need to see your primary care physician for medical clearance and obtain routine lab work. You may also need a mammogram.
