Surgical vs. Nonsurgical Facelift Options in Buffalo, NY

Facelift in Buffalo, NYThe face is one area of the body that tends to show the most obvious signs of wear and tear. From lines and wrinkles to sagging skin and lost volume, there are countless concerns you may have about the look of your face as you age. The good news is that surgical and non-surgical options exist, to help you maintain your youth, for the long-term. Here is what you need to know:

Surgical Options

For those who are struggling with deep set lines, wrinkles and other more serious signs of aging, a surgical facelift can offer the most comprehensive and long-lasting results.

Full Facelift— Dr. Dawli will make the incisions behind the ears to minimize visible scarring. She will then reposition and tighten the underlying structures of the face and reduce the jowls, before trimming away any excess skin and suturing up the incisions. The facelift procedure can take up to five hours and is performed under general anesthesia.

Mini Facelift— Less extensive than a full facelift, a mini facelift is excellent for addressing problematic nasolabial folds, jowls, and signs of aging around the neck. Performed under local or general anesthesia, a mini facelift takes less time and uses smaller incisions than its full counterpart. This means that while scarring will be less, the results will not be as comprehensive as those achieved with a full facelift. However, for some patients, this procedure is all that is required to take years off of their appearance.

Although recovery will depend upon the individual, many patients are able to return to a more normal routine after approximately two weeks.

Non-Surgical Facelift

If surgery sounds too daunting, but you are still seeking to enhance the appearance of your face, a non-surgical facelift could be the right choice.

Liquid Facelift–This procedure focuses primarily on volumizing the face. With the use of facial fillers such as Juvederm®, Radiesse®, and Restylane®, we are able to fill out sunken areas of the face, lifting and contouring the facial features, so that you look younger, without having to commit to surgery.

Given the nature of facial fillers, a liquid facelift will not last as long as a surgical one. However, it could offer the cosmetic support you need, without requiring any downtime.

At Buffalo Plastic Surgery, the cost of each procedure depends on the individual’s unique needs. You can expect to discuss pricing and payment options during your consultation, and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

So if you have been considering a facelift, rest assured that there are a variety of options available. Our team, led by Dr. Dawli, is well prepared to assist you in your facelift journey, regardless of which option you choose.
