What is the procedure like?
Before the procedure, the area where the hair is being harvested from is shaved and topical anesthetic is applied to the scalp to decrease the pain for follicle harvesting. During the procedure, Dr. Dawli will use a machine to harvest the follicles from where your hair is thickest. The procedure will last between 4-6 hours, depending on the amount of follicles harvested and transplanted. After the procedure, your head will be bandaged and you can go home right after the procedure.
Recovery
Your scalp may be tender after the procedure and you may need to take pain medications for several days after. Your head will continue to be bandaged for a few days and most people return to work after removing the bandage. The transplanted hair will fall out for the next 2-3 weeks and then new hair growth from the transplanted follicles should be noticed after a few months.
